About Me

Hello! My name is Troy Husted, and I’m a mechanical and software engineer based in Boston, MA. Originally from Parker, CO, I studied mechanical engineering with a minor in computer science at the University of Colorado Boulder. I’m deeply passionate about both fields and love tackling challenging problems. My career has taken me through a variety of exciting projects, including developing two apps and working on electromechanical systems. Outside of engineering, I’m a former powerlifter, always seeking to push my limits—whether in the gym or in my work.

What have I been up to?

Spring 2025

After getting settled in Boston, I started working as a Manufacturing Engineer at Thorlabs! Designing new products for the extensive Thorlabs catalog, optimizing & automating manufacturing processes, and managing all the intricacies of nonlinear control systems is a part of my daily routine.

Fall 2024

I recently moved to Boston because my girlfriend got a job here, and I’m currently on the hunt for new opportunities. Exploring a new city while figuring out my next career move has been both exciting and a bit of an adventure.

 Summer 2024

After graduation, I spent the summer on an epic trip through Africa and Europe, visiting five countries—Tanzania, England, Italy, Greece, and Turkey. It was an unforgettable way to close one chapter and kick off the next.

 Spring 2024

I wrapped up my degree at the University of Colorado Boulder, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Computer Science. It was a huge milestone, and I'm excited for what’s next.

 Fall 2023

October was a big month—I launched my second app, Recitation, on the App Store! It's designed to help students stay organized with their homework, combining my love for problem-solving and app development.

 Summer 2023

I spent the summer interning at FIRST RF in Boulder, CO, diving into the world of custom RF design and production. I got to work on some fascinating projects and gained a whole new appreciation for RF engineering.

 Summer 2022

I interned at Omnivision Technologies in Santa Clara, CA, working on some seriously cool tech—digital imaging, analog, and display solutions. It was an awesome opportunity to get hands-on with technology that’s shaping the future.
